Day 1
Pickup from your centrally located hotel in the city of Huaraz at approximately 8 AM. Embark on a fascinating adventure to the monumental Chavín de Huántar, a UNESCO World Heritage site considered one of the most important centers of the early civilizations of Peru. This ancient city was the nucleus of the first Andean culture and the first major religious center in the region. The experience begins with a tour through picturesque villages located south of Huaraz, such as Recuay, Ticapampa, and Catac, until we reach a detour that will take us east, into the majestic Cordillera Blanca. Along the way, we'll stop at the impressive Laguna Querococha, at 3,900 meters above sea level, to enjoy its beauty for about 20 minutes. We will then continue ascending to the Cahuish pass/tunnel, crossing into the Callejón de Conchucos valley, and descending through a series of winding curves until we reach the city of Chavín. Once in Chavín, we will delve into its historic archaeological complex, where we will explore the Square Plaza, Circular Plaza, The Castle, the intricate Labyrinths, and the famous Lanzón, one of the most emblematic pieces of Chavín culture. In addition, we will visit the Chavín Museum, located just 1 km from the city, where we can learn more about the different stages of development of this great Andean civilization. After a delicious lunch in the city, you'll have time to stroll through the peaceful streets of Chavín before returning to Huaraz by the same route. Don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of one of Peru's most fascinating civilizations!
