Prevention of Sexual Exploitation of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents in the Tourism Sector

In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) seeks to raise awareness among regional and local authorities, tourism service providers, and the general public through preventive actions aimed at eradicating this problem in the country.

Actions

  • Technical assistance to regional and local governments: We train officials working in regional and local governments on the prevention of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the tourism sector.
  • Informational videos: We provide audiovisual materials to raise awareness among tourism officials and service providers and teach them good practices for preventing sexually transmitted infections (SCII).
  • Capacity building for tourism service providers: We raise awareness, inform, and share best practices with tourism service providers regarding the prevention of sexual and reproductive health issues.
  • Dissemination of the subscription to the codes of conduct against sexual exploitation of children and adolescents: We disseminated the signatures of the Mandatory Affidavit of Subscription to the Code of Conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents by the legal representatives of tourism service providers.
  • This is in accordance with Law No. 30802, which establishes conditions for the admission of children and adolescents to lodging establishments, with the aim of guaranteeing their protection and integrity.
