Program:
⏰ Approx. 4:00 AM – Hotel pickup for the Rainbow Mountain tour.
We’ll travel by vehicle to the town of Cusipata, where we’ll stop for breakfast. Afterward, we’ll continue by vehicle to the base of the hike. The trek begins at an altitude of 4,430 meters (14,534 ft) and ascends to 5,000 meters (16,404 ft) over a 2-hour uphill walk.
The landscape is painted with vibrant colors due to the natural minerals found in the area. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of the Ausangate snow-capped peak and spot native camelids such as alpacas and llamas.
After completing the 6-kilometer hike, we’ll stop again in Cusipata for lunch.
🌙 Overnight in Cusco.

Recomendations
- We recommend arriving in Cusco the day before the tour to adjust to the altitude and, most importantly, to be ready for the scheduled pickup time.
- Clothing should be appropriate for the season and planned activities. The sunny or Andean summer months (mid-April to October) can bring intense sun during the day with temperatures reaching up to 68°F (20°C), but nights can drop sharply to around 41°F (5°C). We suggest bringing lightweight or long-sleeved clothing for the day and warm layers for the evening.
- During the rainy season (November to April), it’s advisable to bring waterproof clothing and shoes that can withstand water and cold.
- If you plan to engage in other outdoor activities around Cusco—such as camping, hiking, biking, or motorcycling—be sure to wear appropriate clothing and gear.
- The program shown here is a one-day tour, but if you’d like to extend your stay, please ask about our Cusco packages that include hotel and tours ranging from 4 to 6 days.
