Hotel Pickup – Transfer to Ollantaytambo – Train to Aguas Calientes – Visit to Machu Picchu

🕓 4:00 AM – The tour begins with pickup from centrally located hotels in Cusco. Pickup is available from the Plaza de Armas or your hotel, as long as it is located in or near the city center.

Our tour driver will pick you up and take you to the train station in the town of Ollantaytambo, a journey of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. From there, you’ll board a train operated by either PeruRail or IncaRail, which will take you to the town of Aguas Calientes in a scenic ride lasting about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Upon arrival, your official tour guide will be waiting to escort you to the bus station. You’ll then take a 35-minute ride up to the archaeological park of Machu Picchu.

Once at the entrance and after passing through the necessary checkpoints, your guided tour of Machu Picchu will begin. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

At the appropriate time, you’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have free time to explore the town and, if you wish, visit the thermal medicinal baths.

In the evening, you’ll board the return train to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our staff will be waiting to transfer you back to Cusco and then to your hotel.

Recomendations
  • We recommend arriving in Cusco the day before the tour to adjust to the altitude and, most importantly, to be ready for the scheduled pickup time.
  • Clothing should be appropriate for the season and planned activities. The sunny or Andean summer months (mid-April to October) can bring intense sun during the day with temperatures reaching up to 68°F (20°C), but nights can drop sharply to around 41°F (5°C). We suggest bringing lightweight or long-sleeved clothing for the day and warm layers for the evening.
  • During the rainy season (November to April), it’s advisable to bring waterproof clothing and shoes that can withstand water and cold.
  • If you plan to engage in other outdoor activities around Cusco—such as camping, hiking, biking, or motorcycling—be sure to wear appropriate clothing and gear.
  • The program shown here is a one-day tour, but if you’d like to extend your stay, please ask about our Cusco packages that include hotel and tours ranging from 4 to 6 days.
  • We are not responsible for services affected by strikes, protests, or natural disasters.
  • Let me know if you’d like this adapted for a travel guide or booking page—I can help make it even more inviting!
