Hotel Pickup – Transfer to Mollepata – Soraypampa – Hike to Humantay Lagoon

🕓 4:30 AM – The tour begins with pickup from centrally located hotels in Cusco, between 4:30 and 5:00 AM.

We’ll head northwest from Cusco to the town of Mollepata, passing through the lush Apurímac River Valley. In this charming village, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved buffet breakfast to fuel up for the day.

After breakfast, we continue to Soraypampa, the starting point of our hike, located at an altitude of 3,900 meters (12,795 ft). After a short rest, we begin our trek toward the breathtaking Humantay Lagoon, situated at 4,180 meters (13,713 ft).

The hike takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Once at the lagoon, you’ll take in the incredible scenery, listen to your guide’s insights, and have time to take photos and relax in this magical setting.

We then return to our base camp for a buffet lunch with panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks, followed by transportation back to Cusco.

6:00 PM – Tour ends in Cusco

Recomendations
  • We recommend arriving in Cusco the day before the tour to adjust to the altitude and, most importantly, to be ready for the scheduled pickup time.
  • Clothing should be appropriate for the season and planned activities. The sunny or Andean summer months (mid-April to October) can bring intense sun during the day with temperatures reaching up to 68°F (20°C), but nights can drop sharply to around 41°F (5°C). We suggest bringing lightweight or long-sleeved clothing for the day and warm layers for the evening.
  • During the rainy season (November to April), it’s advisable to bring waterproof clothing and shoes that can withstand water and cold.
  • If you plan to engage in other outdoor activities around Cusco—such as camping, hiking, biking, or motorcycling—be sure to wear appropriate clothing and gear.
  • The program shown here is a one-day tour, but if you’d like to extend your stay, please ask about our Cusco packages that include hotel and tours ranging from 4 to 6 days.
