Ascent to Vallunaraju 2 days (2 days)
It is one of the mountains located in the Cordillera Blanca, within the Huascarán National Park. Its top can be easily seen from the city of Huaraz. The peak has an altitude of 5,685 meters and is technically considered medium difficulty, and the advantage is that it can be done in just 2 days.
However, any ascent to a peak implies certain risks and therefore requires: adequate prior acclimatization, the necessary technical equipment, qualified mountain guides and experience hiking in rugged areas.
Day 01: Huaraz – quebrada Llaca – campo morrena Vallunaraju.
Between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., we will leave Huaraz and drive to Quebrada Llaca through an unpaved road (approx. 2 hours). From Llaca we prepare our luggage and we will begin to walk through a zigzag vertical path with some parts on rocks and that little by little brings us closer to the moraine area and we can see Vallunaraju up close. Night in Campo Morrena at an altitude of 5000 meters above sea level. If the weather is good, we can enjoy an incomparable sunset.
Day 02: Moraine camp – summit Vallunaraju – descent and transport to Huaraz.
At 2:00 a.m. approx. After an early breakfast, our ascent begins and after 20 minutes we will arrive at the beginning of the glacier. After roped ourselves up and verifying all the technical material, we will continue the ascent through the south-west face and after overcoming some cracks and changing paths (due to climate change). We will arrive at the pass to finally head along an almost narrow ridge in the direction of its top (5685 masl). From the top we will have wide and panoramic views of the great mountain chain of the Cordillera Blanca and its highest peaks such as Huascaran, Huandoy, Chacraraju, Copa, Chopicalqui. After spending a few minutes at the top, the descent can take about 3 hours to the moraine and 2 more hours to Quebrada Llaca where our private transport awaits us.
Then 1.5 hours with transportation to Huaraz city – end of tour between 2:00 to 3:00 pm approx.
Included:
- Private transportation from/to your hotel.
- Certified mountain Guide English and Spanish speaking (other languages on special request).

Climbing Pisco Mountain (3 days)
Pisco is a very beautiful mountain, which is why it is known as the “Balcony of the Cordillera Blanca” and a good option for climbers after proper acclimatization. Previous mountaineering experience is not required, although you must be in good physical condition. At the summit (5752 m), you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the Cordillera Blanca.
ITINERARY:
Day 01: Huaraz – Cebollapampa (3850 m) – Pisco base camp (4676 m).
Time: 4 hours hiking approx.
From Huaraz with ou transport we go to Cebollapampa for about 3 hours approx. During the trip we will be able to appreciate two beautiful lagoons in the Llanganuco valley called Chinancocha and Orconcocha. We will continue until we reach Cebollapampa, where we will start our hike to the Pisco base camp, where we will camp.
Day 02: Base camp – Nevado Pisco Summit 5752 m – Base camp
Time: 8 to 9 hours approx between ascent and descent
Top day!! We start the ascent between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.; first through a winding path, the path is a mix of good path with some demanding trails over moraine rocks and loose ground until reaching the glacier, after 2 to 3 hours we will arrive at the glacier where we will equip with crampons, harnesses and ropes.
Most of the way is not very steep or technically difficult, although the altitude makes it challenging. Depending on the season, there may be some short steep sections or hard ice and even a few crevasses to get over. We try to reach the summit in the early hours of the day. At the summit there is ample space to walk, appreciate the incredible surrounding mountains such as the gigantic Chacraraju, the Artesonraju (paramount), Huandoys, Caraz, Huascaran, Alpamayo and others. Then we will descend to the Morrena field where we will have our rest, lunch and continue to the base camp.
Day 03: Base camp – Cebollapampa 3850 m – Huaraz.
Time: 2 hours hiking, 2.5 hours by car.
This day we will descend to Cebollapampa, where our transport awaits us to bring us back to Huaraz. End of tour between 2:00 to 3:00 pm approx.

ALTERNATIVE: The other alternative that we can try is to walk towards Laguna 69 and then descend towards Cebollapampa, this option will take more time but the views during the journey are impressive. (4 to 5 hours of walking).

ALTERNATIVE: The other alternative that we can try is to walk towards Laguna 69 and then descend towards Cebollapampa, this option will take more time but the views during the journey are impressive. (4 to 5 hours of walking).
